SCCUR promotes awareness of faculty-mentored
undergraduate research, scholarly, and creative activities
as they exist in various disciplines and types of institutions.
The conference fosters appreciation of the valuable role these
collaborations play in enhancing undergraduate education. SCCUR
aims to develop a multidisciplinary and multicultural community
of researchers, scholars and artists linked by a common enthusiasm
for learning and discovery.
SCCUR will be a dynamic conference. Students
in the arts, humanities and sciences will come together to
discuss and display the results of their own creativity applied
to original projects in their respective disciplines. The conference
will provide ample opportunities for students to share information
across disciplinary boundaries.
In
addition to students’ oral and poster
presentations, the conference will feature a keynote address,
faculty-led roundtable discussions at the lunch hour, and a
reception. It will be a rich celebration of undergraduate achievement!
The first two SCCUR conferences were held
at Caltech in 1993 and 1994, as well as in 2002. The conference
has also been hosted by the Claremont Colleges (1995), Occidental
(1996), Cal State LA (1997), Cal Poly Pomona (1998), Loyola
Marymount University (1999), Cal State Long Beach (2000), and
UCLA (2001). We now celebrate 11 years of SCCUR and look forward
to the future of undergraduate research in Southern California
colleges and universities.
